Master's Degree Tuition and Admission

Tuition

Tuition for each course is $1,352 per unit. Each course ranges from 3-5 units, as indicated on course enrollment pages. You must earn 45 units of credit within five years of your start date to be awarded a Master’s degree.

Additional required fees

  • $125 One-Time Transcript/Document Fee provides lifetime access to your course transcripts  (not applicable if you already paid this fee for a credit-bearing graduate course prior to starting your degree program)
  • $44 Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) Fee, assessed each autumn, winter, or spring quarter you are enrolled. Learn more at the Student Financial Services webpage under the "Tuition and Other Fees Schedules" section

Military benefits

Students affiliated with the US Armed Forces may receive tuition benefits  through the Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) and the Yellow Ribbon Program, as well as Chapter 30- Montgomery Bill and Chapter 31- Vocational rehabilitation.

Admission

You can gain admission as a degree candidate to the academic department through the standard graduate admissions process.

When applying, indicate you wish to pursue your degree as a part-time student through the "Honors-Cooperative Program."

You are expected to maintain a minimum course workload of 3 units of credit per academic quarter (except summer) throughout the period in which you are pursuing a part-time master's degree.
